The Premier League returns this weekend with a bang! After Coronavirus halted proceedings of one of the most followed leagues in the world for nearly three months, PL fans will witness Sheffield United take on West Ham on 17th June while Manchester United visit to White Hart Lane to face Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils had warmed up in style for this game, winning 2-0 at home against Manchester City and a 5-0 thumping of LASK in the Europa League. The break has bolstered the team immensely, with the return of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford set to boost United’s bid for the tail end of the season.

Here, we take a look at Man United’s predicted XI against Spurs.

Goalkeeper

David De Gea continues to be the trusted custodian for the Devils. He might have made a few mistakes this season, but there’s no suggestion that the key man will not start under the bar against the former Champions League finalists. Sergio Romero will continue to be a more than able deputy.

Defence

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has made the right-back position his own since signing from Crystal Palace. He loves a tackle and is a very capable defender. His positioning and windy runs down the right will only get better with age and experience.

Club captain Harry Maguire has been a sensational signing and is one of the first names on the team sheet. Victor Lindelof would’ve partnered him otherwise, but the comeback of Eric Bailly now poses a threat for the Swede. Lindelof gets our nod to start, given his experience playing beside the English defender.

On the left, it’s a clear toss-up between Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams. Williams has improved by leaps and bounds and is now posing a serious threat to the very talented Shaw. Shaw can be given a nod based on his ability to play well in big games.

Midfield

Return of two players in Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay strengthens United’s midfield by some footing, which already rose by a level with the addition of Portuguese No. 10 Bruno Fernandes. With Paul Pogba and Bruno controlling proceedings, it will take Tottenham something special to outplay this pair in the centre of the pitch, even more with no Christian Eriksen around.

McTominay can be expected to start in the defensive midfield position, with Pogba and Brazilian Fred playing ahead of him. Fernandes can be expected to take his spot at No. 10, just behind the strikers.

Attack

With the return of Rashford, Manchester United’s attack now looks complete. With Anthony Martial one of the best dribblers with incisive vision to find the bottom net corner, Rashford’s ability to run behind defences will come in handy.

Both forwards have been in good form this season, and their chemistry is one of the best in the Premier League. Both Rashford and Martial together have scored some breath-taking goals already this season and after a gap, they look fresher than ever.

United are on an 11-game run and are back in the top four, upsetting City and Chelsea at all occasions this season. They had defeated Spurs 2-1 in the home fixture, and now have a chance to do a double on Mourinho’s men.
